Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1970, Mathew emigrated to England in 1977, living in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire 'til 1999, moving to Swindon, Wiltshire where he still currently lives.

Mathew earned his "Iron" nickname during his senior years at school in the early eighties when, on the sports field, he became widely known as "Iron Man", for his fierce attitude, phenomenal power, immense stature, and relentless "hard as iron" resolve.

As an avid fan of the burgeoning Heavy Metal and Hard Rock music scene, and in particular bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, and Saxon, "Iron Man" soon became "Iron Mathew" - a nickname that has stuck ever since.

Along with Heavy Metal and Hard Rock music, Iron Mathew also enjoys Thrash, Power, Speed, Symphonic, Traditional Heavy Metal, and the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM).

His love for metal and rock music has led to the creation of a review website - Frenzy Fire Metal & Rock Reviews, where you will find passionately written, entertaining, and occasionally humorous album reviews for many of the worlds top metal and rock acts, along with a focus on the newer and lesser known bands.

Alongside Frenzy Fire Metal & Rock Reviews, Iron Mathew is also the chief editor for the news and reviews website Metal Gods TV, as well as the admin of a number of Facebook groups & pages, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Along with all of this metal and rock activity, Iron Mathew also created Iron's Eighties - highlighting many of the bands and artists that, during the eighties shaped his musical preferences for life.

On a personal level, Iron Mathew has a son and daughter, suffered tragedy with the loss of both his parents to cancer, suffering great trauma by way of clinical depression (2009), falling victim to a stroke (2019), and a recent Type2 diabetes diagnosis.

Yet despite the terrifying and potential devastating effects of depression, stroke and diabetes, Iron Mathew showed tremendous fighting spirit to recover and overcome these three life threatening conditions.
